LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The third and final flower show at the fair wrapped up today, showcasing more than 1,000 entries.

Avid gardeners and floral designers spent the morning perfecting their entries for judging. For many, preparation began months ago in early spring when they started cultivating the plants and flowers they wanted to feature in their displays. Entries ranged from single blooms to small arrangements to full displays. Participants say each year brings lessons and new ideas for future shows.

“I mean, I've made mistakes, but when I make mistakes, I learn from it. Every year. I've been doing this for about four years, and it's just kind of fun. It challenges me, because I like to see if I can do better each year,” said Cathy Calvelage, who has participated in the flower show for four years.

The flower show will remain on display until Saturday evening in the Junior Fair Building on the north side of the fairgrounds.
