CRIDERSVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) – “Going on – not defeated” is the message a former educator is bringing to students at Cridersville Elementary School.
Ron Derry, a Lions Club member from Pataskala, Ohio, near Columbus, has made it his mission since losing his eyesight in 1995 to teach children that life goes on. A former teacher and coach, Derry said he had to make the choice to move forward rather than be defeated.
He created the "GOOD" Program and travels across the state speaking at schools about making positive decisions and persevering in all areas of life.
“The GOOD Program, more than anything, is about perseverance. But in order to have perseverance to be successful, we have to evaluate and make every situation the best we can to provide ourselves with the highest quality of life,” Derry said.
His visit to Cridersville Elementary is sponsored annually by the Cridersville Lions Club.
