Free Lightbulb Lab encourages kids to explore future careers

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Parents looking for a fun and educational weekend activity for their kids may want to check out the Hub at Central District.

The Hub will host its second “Lightbulb Lab” on Valentine’s Day. The program is designed to encourage young children to start thinking about what they might want to do when they grow up.

Organizers are partnering with local health professionals, Apollo Career Center, and the University of Northwestern Ohio to provide hands-on activities focused on health sciences.

“It’s a great opportunity for them to come down and again just start thinking about what it is they want to do so they can start to sort of pathway their education toward that career,” said Bart Mills, Hub director.

The Lightbulb Lab is open to children in kindergarten through fourth grade, along with their parents or guardians. The event is free and will take place Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hub.

The program is set up like an open house, allowing families to come and go at any time during the event. Organizers say a different lab will be offered on the second Saturday of each month.
