LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The weather was perfect for area car enthusiasts to enjoy hundreds of vehicles while supporting a good cause.
The Tom Ahl Family of Dealerships’ annual charity car show returned for another year — and set a new record. Around 300 vehicles, ranging from vintage cars to motorcycles, rolled onto the parking lot for the event. This year, all proceeds from the car show will benefit Family Promise of Lima-Allen County. The funds will be used to help local homeless families with children.
“Family Promise doesn't receive any kind of state or federal funding right now, so we're surviving on donations from the community, from our churches. You know, everybody is coming together to help us, be able to provide for these families. I mean, everything from bus passes, diapers- whatever is they need to come in. We provide breakfast, lunch, dinner for them, so the community support is what keeps us being able to do what we're doing,” says Hellen Douglas, Executive Director, Family Promise of Lima-Allen County.
Each year, Tom Ahl selects one nonprofit organization to receive the car show’s proceeds.
