BATH TWP., Allen County, Ohio (WLIO) — Santa Claus helped families step back in time during a holiday event hosted by the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District at the Lauer Historical Farm.
Santa set up shop at the historic farm to meet with children and collect last-minute wish lists ahead of Christmas Eve. The 90-year-old farmhouse provided a fitting backdrop for the event, highlighting the park district’s efforts to preserve and showcase local history.
Park officials say the event also gave the public a rare opportunity to tour the home, which is not regularly open to visitors.
“It's a great opportunity for the public to come out and see what the home is, visit it, and the opportunity to be with Santa Claus. The home isn't always open every day, so this just gives another opportunity for the public to come out and see what all we have done and what they could do, because It is a rental facility,” says Anne Bowman, Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District.
