LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima City Council members are making sure young people are well-versed in financial literacy. Councilmen Thomas Jones and Derry Glenn are launching the "Dr. Derry Glenn Money Smart Monopoly Club."

The FDIC-approved course will help teach kids ages 4 to 9 the smart money skills they'll need in the future. In partnership with the "Children's Hunger Alliance" children will be sent home with a packed lunch after every class. Everyone involved is excited to see area children learn and succeed.

The program will be held at Savior's Grace Ministries and will begin next Tuesday, June 10.

"The word of God teaches us to train up a child in the way they should go when they get older, they won't depart from it. They might stray from it, but they won't depart from it. It's in there. Anything that we can do to enhance our children, to get our children ready for the world, we want to be a part of that," said Pastor Claytonia Logan with Savior's Grace Ministries.

The program will be held at Savior's Grace Ministries and will begin next Tuesday, June 10. Classes will take place every Tuesday and Thursday for three weeks. There are still four slots available for the class.

If you're interested in signing your child up, you can call Councilman Thomas Jones at 513-218-8898.
