Lima City Summer Park Program treats kids to bowling outing

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Area children spent part of their summer break knocking down pins during a bowling field trip with the Lima City Summer Park Program.

The group visited 20th Century Lanes, where participants of all skill levels had the opportunity to bowl. While some children were trying the sport for the first time, others were more experienced, but everyone shared the same goal of knocking down as many pins as possible.

The outing featured plenty of splits, spares and several strikes as the children rolled ball after ball down the lanes while cheering on their friends.

Ma'kalynn Bean shared her thoughts on what it takes to be successful in bowling.

"Bowling is not that hard. Bowling, you just have to, you just have to, like some people, like if you bowl slowly, sometimes you can get strikes and stuff. But some people can bowl straight, like fast, and it can hit all of them."

Branson Miles said he enjoyed the experience despite not having a game plan.

"It's been fun. I'm doing good. And no, I don't have a strategy."

Following the bowling games, the children enjoyed a pizza party before wrapping up the day's activities.

The Lima City Summer Park Program will continue Thursday with a fishing outing, where participants will learn how to cast a line and try their luck at catching fish.
