LIMA, Ohio (WLIO)- The Lima community came together this afternoon to support a local police officer.
A fundraiser was held for Officer Zachary Mortimer of the Lima Police Department, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in June. The benefit included raffles, quarter auctions, 50/50 drawings and gift baskets donated by local businesses to help raise money for Mortimer’s medical expenses. Mortimer said the amount of support from the community has been overwhelming.

“It’s more than I was expecting. It’s a blessing. I mean, I love each and every one, everyone that’s here today. It’s awesome. I would have never expected this kind of turnout,” Mortimer said.
“I’m obviously touched. So yep, this was huge, huge outpouring. So the community really got behind him,” said his mother, Teresa Mortimer.
