Lima, Ohio (WLIO) — The summer heat is hitting some residents harder than others, and a Lima councilman is asking for help for those in need.
Councilman Derry Glenn is continuing his air conditioning donation program and is asking anyone who has new or used air conditioners that aren’t being used to donate them.
Residents in multiple counties are on a waiting list for air conditioners. As the summer heat continues, higher temperatures can be especially dangerous for the elderly and those with health complications. Glenn says just one act of kindness, through an air conditioner donation, can save a life.
"Right now, we got a list of 80 people that need them right now. And these are 80 elderly people need them. And we got people that have been sick with diabetes, you know, and it's just been tough right now. So, I'm asking everyone, please new or used, if you got to used air condition, we'll come out and pick it up. But we need them really bad. And please show your hometown pride. It's pretty tough. A lot of folks cannot afford them right now. And I mean, they sit in their houses, and the house is over 100 some degrees," commented Derry Glenn, the Lima City 6th Ward councilman.
If you or someone you know has a new or used air conditioner to donate, you can call Derry Glenn at (419) 905-9572.
