LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima Memorial welcoming students to its main campus for "Explorer Physician Night.”

The hands-on event took students on a journey into the heart of cardiology, offering a chance to engage with local heart doctors. Throughout the session, students learned the ins and the outs of how the heart moves and functions to sustain life, while also understanding the role artificial heart pumps play in treating heart failure. Some students even had the chance to dissect a real pig heart.

“We have a huge shortage of students going into this field because they think it's very difficult, in reality, it's not. It's all about your perspective and what kind of goals you have set in mind. If you make a mindset and you have a goal in life to be a doctor, nurse, or whatever you want to be, you can do it.  It's not as scary as people think it is, told Masroor Abro, Cardiologist.

“I want to be a sonographer, and I thought about cardiac. Right now, I want to be a pediatric sonographer. It will help me because you have to know the anatomy and know what's wrong. It will help me be able to see what the normal is and then compare it to what would be abnormal, said Heaven Watkins, Student.
