LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Lima businessman is using his retirement to spread a little more kindness in the world.

John Battles, a retired computer programmer, has launched a new online initiative encouraging people to share acts of kindness. His goal? To inspire and track 1 million kind acts through his website, with “AOK” standing for “Acts of Kindness.” Battles said the idea came to him as he looked for something meaningful to do with his time after partially retiring.

“I figure if we could log that, we would actually be changing the world for the better, putting acts of kindness in people's forefront, instead of all the negativity that they get bombarded with daily,” said Battles.

He’s asking anyone who witnesses or performs an act of kindness to log it on the website and help grow the counter. His vision is to create a ripple effect that reminds people of the good happening all around them.
