LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The store it safe program plans to continue their educational meetings for families.
At Unity Elementary, 6th ward Lima city councilman Derry Glenn hosts a program called store it safe. This initiative focuses on the importance of responsible gun storage and safety, aiming to protect families and prevent tragedies from happening. Through discussions and demonstrations, the program teaches both children and parents alike how to recognize potential dangers and what steps to take if they encounter a firearm. In upcoming sessions, guest speakers will give their personal testimonies and professional advice.
"They don't know about the gun, the safety gadgets on the guns, where they should place them at. There's a lot to it until they see something happen to a kid and, boom. Think about it. So right now, we're educating right now, and we'll continue educating the kids on this," says Derry Glenn, Lima 6th ward city councilman.
Glenn adds that he hopes to see great turnouts at his future events.
