LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Symphony Orchestra's family concert took the stage Sunday afternoon, celebrating both animals and music.

Lima Symphony Orchestra’s family concert brings music and animals to life

The orchestra took the audience on a "Symphonic Safari" through music, accompanied by life-sized animal puppets operated by local dancers.

Before the concert began, attendees had the opportunity to interact with animals in the lobby. The orchestra took the audience on a "Symphonic Safari" through music, accompanied by life-sized animal puppets operated by local dancers. The performance featured a variety of pieces, from "The Circle of Life" from The Lion King to selections from Beethoven’s symphonies. The orchestra’s family concert offers an experience that audiences of all ages can enjoy.

"We've created dance sequences with the music happening behind it that tell the story of the circle of life, for example, and how you have predation and how you have animals eating plants, and how all of this goes together. Also, they get to accompany us on things like Baby Shark and funny dog videos and the enjoying and learning about Beethoven. It's really a wide range of experiences today, said Andrew Crust, music director and conductor for the Lima Symphony Orchestra.

The symphony’s next concert, Carmen and Boléro, is scheduled for March 8 at the Civic Center.
