LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Tucked away at the back of the Merchants Building at the Allen County Fairgrounds, a display of model trains is drawing attention and tugging on heartstrings.

The HO Model Railroaders of Lima have once again set up a variety of trains designed to pique the interest of both young and old. The collection ranges from the smallest N-gauge to HO, Lionel, and even standard gauge trains.

Those operating the displays say the trains are always a conversation starter, and they hope the exhibit encourages more people to explore the hobby of model railroading.

“To me, it's the greatest hobby there is, because you can learn all kinds of things, construction, carpentry, artistic, you know, electronics, anything in your imagination you want to do with them you can do it,” said Rick Davis of the HO Model Railroaders of Lima.

The group is also holding a raffle each day of the fair for a new train set, open to kids ages 5 to 15.
