ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) - Organizational leaders from across Allen County gathered Monday at the Mercy Health Graduate Medical Center for the first “No Wrong Door” event, an initiative aimed at improving awareness of local resources and services.

The event brought together representatives from a variety of community-based organizations to better understand each other’s services and establish stronger referral networks. With numerous organizations present, the goal was to ensure that individuals in need can be directed to the right resources, even if they are unsure where to turn.

Beca Sheidler, from the Area Agency on Aging, emphasized that while the wide range of organizations in the community is beneficial, it can sometimes be overwhelming for residents to navigate.

Organizers hope to hold the “No Wrong Door” event twice a year moving forward to further raise awareness and strengthen connections.

"I think systems can be confusing and fragmented. People don't always know where to turn or they think one organization may provide a service but when they call they find out it's actually another organization. So I think if we can work better together to help navigate people to right place, it's a win," said Beca Sheidler, vice president of Aging in Place, Area Agency on Aging 3.
