LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Ohio Department of Transportation crews were out in full force overnight and throughout the day, working to clear roads after snowfall moved through the area.

ODOT said snow and wind made conditions challenging overnight, but sunshine on Wednesday helped crews make progress. In ODOT District 1, 13 plows were deployed overnight, with crews continuing to work through the day and into the night as another round of light snow is expected.

ODOT warned that winds could cause blowing and drifting snow in rural areas, and untreated roads could become icy due to refreezing. Drivers are being reminded to slow down, use caution and give plows plenty of room to work.

“We always just ask that the public gives our crews room to work. Don’t crowd the plow. Give us plenty of space and opportunity to get things cleaned up for them,” said Andy Wita, transportation manager for ODOT District 1.

The department said crews will continue monitoring conditions overnight and into Friday morning as winter weather moves back into the region.
