LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - In an effort to build a job-ready workforce for various industries in the region, free training will be offered for a process operations certificate.
Cenovus Energy Lima Refinery, the Lima Area Chamber Foundation, and The Hub are investing in and providing an 11-week course designed to prepare students for employment as process operators. Graduates will be qualified to work in industries such as refineries, chemical and ethanol plants, and other facilities that rely on process operations.
"There's a lot of opportunity because it opens up a window for not only process operations but there's a lot of maintenance that happens also. So people can be exposed to like the pipe fitters, boiler makers, machinists, electricians, instrumentation, analyzer techs, insulators, carpenters. So there's a world of a big scope of jobs that's available," stated Michael Springer, senior U.S. technical training advisor.
An open house to learn more about the training will be held Monday, Feb. 3, from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Hub, located at 219 S. Central Ave. The course is limited to 15 students and will begin March 31.
