LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A downtown Lima building is preparing to host a free class for those interested in the petrochemical industry.

The Hub, the Lima Area Chamber Foundation, and the Cenovus Lima Refinery recently held an informational open house for the free training process operations certificate course. The 11-week course will cover the basics of equipment, processes, hazards, and safety within the industry. Upon completion, students will earn a state of Ohio-recognized skills certificate through Apollo Career Center, helping the next generation prepare for employment as a process operator.

Open house in downtown Lima discusses free petrochemical industry course

The Hub, the Lima Area Chamber Foundation, and the Cenovus Lima Refinery recently held an informational open house for the free training process operations certificate course.

"It's a good opportunity for especially some of the younger people that are really undecided about what they want to do with their future. This will be a good chance for them to gain knowledge and open up the door to a new field for them," said Michael Springer, course instructor and senior U.S. technical training advisor.

The course begins on March 31 and will meet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. four days a week inside The Hub's new Cenovus Nutrien Classroom for 11 weeks. Class size is limited to 15 students. To sign up, the application is available at https://limachamber.com/process-operations-certificate/. The deadline to apply is March 3.
