LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — While many residents are glad to see the recent stretch of rain come to an end, one city official isn’t complaining.

Lima Utilities Director Mike Caprella said the nearly 3 inches of rain that fell over the weekend have played a major role in refilling the city’s reservoirs. Rainwater runoff flows into the Ottawa and Auglaize rivers, which are then used to replenish the city’s five main reservoirs.

Lima Utilities Director Mike Caprella said the nearly 3 inches of rain that fell over the weekend have played a major role in refilling the city’s reservoirs.

“Right now, everything is pretty full,” Caprella said. “We have one reservoir down 4 or 5 feet at the most. By the time we finish pumping — because the rivers will run quite a bit, especially the Auglaize, since it has a lot more drainage area — we will have everything full. That’s really a good feeling, a good position to be in going into late spring and early summer.”
