LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Lima Police Department is searching for a suspect after a teenager was shot while inside his home on North Baxter Street late Thursday night.
According to detectives, just before 11 p.m., officers were called to the 400 block of North Baxter Street for reports of gunfire into a home. When they arrived, they found a 14-year-old male with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The name of the victim has not been released.
Witnesses say a taller, thin, black man fired multiple shots from the outside of the home into a window. The suspect then ran north on foot. Detectives are reviewing security camera footage from the area. On Thursday, 8/14/2025, at about 10:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Baxter, for shots being fired into a residence. Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived to find that a 14 year old male had been shot, as a result of someone firing several shots into the residence through a ground floor window. Witness described the gunman as a taller, thin, black male, wearing a white t-shirt. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot, northbound between the houses. The victim, who's name is not being released at this time, was transported and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, at Mercy Heath - St. Rita's Medical Center. Detectives are following up on leads and cultivating video from the neighborhood. This incident is still under investigation. If anyone has information about this shooting, please contact the Lima Police Department at (419) 227-4444, or CrimeStoppers at (419) 229-7867.Â
