Press Release from U-Haul: LIMA, Ohio (Jan. 30, 2025) — The U-Haul® store at 1608 Elida Road, which had been a full-service facility since 1978, has ceased most services to become a remote self-storage facility. The transition was completed earlier in January.
U-Haul Storage of Lima on Elida Road will continue to serve storage customers while being run by its parent store U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lima at 2200 Allentown Road.
Services halted at U-Haul Storage of Lima include: retail sales; truck and trailer rentals; U-Box® container rentals; and professional hitch installation. All of these services and more are now available at the new Allentown Road facility.
As a result of closing services at U-Haul Storage of Lima, eight Team Members were let go.
Local U-Haul Companies are always exploring opportunities for growth as they pursue means to better serve the needs of customers, but sometimes find it necessary to close or relocate stores, shops, offices and services. Reasons for closures can include: long-term strategic plans; safety and security concerns; physical site conditions and limitations; shifts in demographics; availability of local Team Members; trends in migration; expansion of the U-Haul neighborhood dealer network; proximity to other new or existing Company locations; and external factors.
