LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Lima man is in custody after shooting during a robbery Sunday afternoon.

Police say 20-year-old Javeon Whisenton allegedly shot a 24-year-old man near the intersection of Wayne and North Collett Streets. Officers were called to the area around 1 p.m. after reports of shots fired. They found a 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a Lima hospital. His condition has not been released.

Investigators believe the shooting happened during a robbery. Whisenton was identified as a suspect and taken into custody shortly after. He is currently being held in the Allen County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery.

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — One person was shot in an incident on the west side of Lima Sunday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., Lima police officers were called to the area of North Collett Street and Wayne Street following reports of a shooting. According to scanner traffic, one person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. The severity of the victim’s injuries is unknown.

One house in the area was also struck by gunfire. The case remains under investigation. The investigation is ongoing and we will have more information when it becomes available.
