ST MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) - Just in time for Memorial Day, Grand Lake Saint Marys opened a new playground right on the water.
The project was proposed to the Lake Improvement Association (LIA) by state park manager David Baylor. The playground is located on the west bank of the lake and is part of a larger ongoing project to create more accessible activities around Grand Lake Saint Marys.
"What's special about it is really it's a whole facility for the community to enjoy," said LIA president Brian Morris. "It's the playground for the kids, we have a shelter house, we have an ADA fishing dock, handicap accessible parking, so families can come here and enjoy the whole facility, hang out, have a picnic if they'd like, and just have a good time making memories on the banks of the lake."
The LIA is currently working on another playground on the east bank of the lake for children of all abilities.
