LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - One person is left without a place to live Tuesday night after a fire destroyed their apartment unit on Lima's north side.
Just before 4:30, firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Pebble Creek Drive for a fire in one of the units.
Fire officials say the call came in just after 4 p.m. at a triplex in the 1200 block of Pebble Creek Drive. Heavy smoke was showing from the eaves of the building as firefighters arrived on scene. The apartment's occupant managed to get out safely. The fire apparently began in a portable dryer and is considered accidental. Damage is estimated at around $100,000, and the Red Cross was called in to assist the apartment's occupant.
