LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The West Ohio Food Bank is preparing for its next community effort — a hygiene drive aimed at helping seniors 60 and older.
They’re asking for donations such as toothpaste, deodorant, adult diapers and toilet paper — items that SNAP benefits don’t cover.
The collection will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon in the front lot of the food bank on Kibby Street. Just pull up, and volunteers will take your donations directly from your car.
“We do this every so often, and the reason why we stress getting personal hygiene items in here to the food bank is because a lot of those, especially seniors 60 and older who come in here to us, are on fixed incomes or using SNAP benefits, and they cannot purchase those specific personal items with their SNAP benefits,” said Jason Aldrich, communication and public relations manager.
If you can’t make it to the drive, the food bank is accepting drop-off donations during its regular business hours, Monday through Thursday.
