American Red Cross urging people to donate blood to prevent blood shortages in 2025

LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - The American Red Cross is calling for blood donors to help prevent shortages in the new year.

Winter weather could lead to blood drive cancellations; an active cold and flu season could keep people from donating. The Red Cross says they are looking for donors for all blood types, but those with Type O negative and those donors’ giving platelets. To schedule an appointment time, log on to their website or call 1-800 RED CROSS.
