LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Another Lima resident is nearing homeownership through the NACA program.
Michelle Gooding has almost completed NACA's entire process to purchase a home and is expecting to be approved later this week. But unlike many homeowners, she won't need a moving van. She is currently renting the home that she's buying.
Her loan is from NACA, a national non-profit organization partnered with the city of Lima to offer homebuyers affordable loans with perks like no down payment or closing costs and a lower credit requirement. They also work with future homeowners each step of the way, answering any questions and teaching financial literacy.
"The house payment is more than what we pay in rest so they're teaching us how to save what they call the shock amount, so we're doing that every month. Saving that extra money to make sure that we are able to keep our mortgage in good standing," Gooding said.
There are currently no in-person workshops scheduled for Lima, but you can learn more on their website.
