Apollo Career Center celebrates Career Tech Education Month with dedication to first superintendent

Apollo Career Center paid tribute to its first superintendent Thursday night.

Apollo Career Center kicked off Career Tech Education Month with the annual All Area Board's Meeting. They've renamed and dedicated the large meeting room to the first Apollo Superintendent, Fred D. Goare. The room will now be called the Fred D. Goare Community Room. Goare's family members were there for the celebration. Ethan Parsons, a 2010 manufacturing engineering technology graduate from Wapakoneta, was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame. Board members from Apollo's 11 member schools and three county education service centers highlighted the benefits of Career Tech. Fred Goare's daughter, Laurie, shared what it means to her family to see her late father honored with this dedication.

"It's kind of overwhelming," said Laurie Swick, Fred Goare's daughter. "I haven't been to Apollo in a long time, and the changes here are phenomenal. My dad's been gone for 25 years and I think the reality of Apollo has far exceeded his dreams for Apollo."

Apollo recognizes Career Tech Education Month by celebrating Apollo's programs, the success of graduates and current students, as well as the partnerships that Apollo appreciates and relies upon to ensure continued success and relevance in its programming, workforce development, and student employment opportunities.
