LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A downtown Lima landmark is celebrating a major milestone.

ArtSpace Lima is honoring 70 years of bringing people together through the arts. Visitors can explore current exhibitions, including “Local Color: David Quinn and the Story of Quinn’s Paint Store,” as well as photography contests featuring entries from the Johnny Appleseed Parks District and The Lima News. Executive Director Sally Windle says the most remarkable aspect of ArtSpace Lima is that it remains owned and supported by the community.

“It’s a highlight and a real achievement for this community because we aren’t owned by any corporation, and we aren’t underwritten by the county or the city,” Windle said. “This exists because people support it. They buy memberships, they donate, and I write grants. It’s all because there’s a need for an art center that people can be a part of, no matter their level in art.”

The anniversary marks the start of a yearlong celebration featuring art, programs and community events to commemorate ArtSpace Lima’s 70th year.
