Asian Arts Auction held at ArtSpace

A local group is highlighting Asian culture for the Lima community.

The Lima Sister Cities Association is hosting an Asian Art Silent Auction at ArtSpace. Lima's only sister city is in Japan, but that is only one of the countries being represented. The auction will feature furniture and children's items from different Asian countries as well as a Japanese sword. Over 300 items are open for bidding with most starting at just $5. All money raised will go to fund the group's youth scholarships which help send local students to study abroad. The LSCA says that exposing people to new cultures is an especially important experience to have.

"I believe that it helps to foster better relationships and deeper understanding between people of different ethnic backgrounds, particularly that's important in the world today," Co-Chair of the Japan Committee for LSCA Sandra Liechty says.

The auction will continue on November 3rd with a special performance of a traditional Japanese dance at 6 P.M.
