An Auglaize County self-advocate group traveled to Washington D.C. Sunday morning. Benchmark Human Services hosted the People First of Auglaize County Friday to discuss final plans for a trip to the nation's capital. The group plans to attend the Disability Policy Seminar to learn about key issues affecting programs for individuals with disabilities.
The organization plans to speak directly to Ohio representatives regarding high priority topics such as Medicaid and social security - often life-lines for many individuals with disabilities. Organizers says it's important for self-advocate groups like People First to represent themselves and have their voices heard.
