CRIDERSVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) – For the last 60 years, the Cridersville Fireman's Jamboree has embodied the community spirit of the village.
The family-friendly event has not only served as a successful fundraiser for the Cridersville Fire Department, but it has also become a beloved local tradition spanning six decades. Residents of all ages look forward to the food, parade, and wide range of activities offered each year. Firefighters say they enjoy seeing the community come together and have fun.
“Our forefathers had a good idea when they started this. The main thing is you got to keep it fresh. Keep it new for everybody. Because if it gets stale, then then it goes by the wayside, or people go and find something else to do. We like to keep it fresh by adding Blessing of the Badges, adding Motorcycle Show. There's always an addition, something to keep it new, so that everybody has something they haven't seen before. The community has embraced this department, everything we do in town, and again, without them, this 60 years isn't even a thought process. It's just awesome,” said Cridersville Fire Chief Rick Miller.
Funds raised from the event go toward building and grounds improvements, as well as equipment that supports the fire and EMS teams in serving the community.
