NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) — Young children can gain musical and developmental benefits by learning to play the violin through a local program designed for early learners.
Tiny Strings is a group music program offered in New Knoxville, Wapakoneta and Lima for children ages 3 to 7. The program teaches the basics of violin playing while helping children build foundational skills through repetition and structured learning. Organizers say the violin is especially beneficial for young children because it encourages coordination and cognitive development, while also fostering an early appreciation for music.
“A violin is a really unique instrument, because you cross your midline a lot. So, using both hands, you're constantly crossing your midline, which is fantastic for your brain. So, for little kids that you that learn violin, it's great for brain development, for language acquisition, for lots of different classroom skills they learn. It helps them get ready for kindergarten,” says Jessica Davis, Founder Tiny Strings.
