BOTKINS, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima Central Catholic head coach Sean Powell made his return to the Coliseum for the first time since leading Botkins to a state title in 2021, but it was the Trojans who celebrated Senior Night with a 75-52 victory.
Powell brought his 12-8 Thunderbirds into Shelby County League champion Botkins for the matchup.
In the first quarter, Jordan Priddy split the defense for an and-one opportunity to score LCC’s first points of the game. Although the free throw was no good, the senior would quickly find his rhythm.
Botkins responded with Tucker Huelskamp dishing to James Steinke for a basket to give the Trojans a 12-4 lead.
LCC tightened up defensively as Jaxon White came away with a steal and found Priddy in transition for the layup. Priddy scored the first 18 points for the Thunderbirds and finished with a team-high 26.
Botkins answered behind Will Monnin, who scored 12 points, including a mid-range jumper. Huelskamp added 10 points of his own, converting an and-one opportunity on the Trojans’ next possession.
In the end, Botkins pulled away on Senior Night to secure the 75-52 win.
