LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Sparking conversation, deepening understanding and driving meaningful change is the goal of this year’s TEDxFaurotPark event.

The Lima edition of the national TED Talks platform will feature six speakers for a morning of presentations centered on the theme “Connections.” Organizers say the talks are designed to inspire new ideas and encourage dialogue within the community.

Topics will include the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence in everyday life, making change visible and navigating one’s final chapter. This year’s event will also welcome back two Lima Senior High School graduates to share their work.

“One is LeJuane Bowens. He is a poet and a spoken word artist. He's currently on his tour, and he's including TedxFaurotPark as part of his tour. And then we also have Patricia Fox, another Lima senior graduate. She's from Chicago, formerly lived in New Zealand. She is making a proposal to the United Nations to amend the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, because there is no clause for end of life autonomy,” said Aimee Bucher, executive producer of TEDxFaurotPark.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Encore Theatre in Lima. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $120 for VIP seating. They are available online at tedxfaurotpark.org.
