For six years, the Autism Life Center has been inviting the public out to the Johnny Appleseed Park for the event. Thanks to sponsorships, they are able to grow the event. This year, they added a water sensory table, and Blooming Bridge Music Therapy brought music instruments for kids to check out. The YWCA also had some craft projects, and of course there was rock painting. The rocks have links to resources about autism, which will get hidden throughout the region and beyond. As people uncover the rocks, organizers hope they take time to learn more about it.

“Awareness leads to inclusion, and everybody wants to feel included and a part of something. Sometimes it’s really hard because, you know an autistic person, they may not know all the social cues. They might not understand various nuances with communication and things like that. So, to just accept who the person is as a person, as who they are, is absolutely huge; everybody wants that acceptance,” says Tera Viola, Autism Life Center.
