The Bath Interact Club focusing on safety before their prom this weekend.
On Wednesday, the Bath High School Interact Club, in conjunction with the Bath Township Fired Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Allen County Sheriff's Office and the Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition conducted youth safe driver education programs ahead of the prom weekend.Â
Club members stopped the students that were driving to school and checked to see if they were wearing a seat belt. If there were, they got a coupon for a McDonald's McFlurry. If not, they got a "ticket" that reminded them about the consequences of not being buckled in.
Bath students also took turns in a distracted driving simulator, to stress the importance of focusing on the road and not texting and driving. The Interact Club is a student led organization with a mission to provide helpful service to its school and community. Â
The club is sponsored by the Lima Rotary Club. Â Â
