Barb McMonigal has worked at Bennett's Furniture Town for nearly the past half century.
But now she's counting down the days until her job ends.
In May, owners announced the business would be shutting down this summer.
A closing sale started on Friday with deep discounts on anything from couches to lamps.
Owner Joe Wasson says the recession had a lot to do with the decision to close.
Bennett's Furniture Town takes up several downtown buildings in McComb and when the business closes, it will leave many storefronts empty, and a hole in tax revenue coming into the village.
While the properties are for sale, Mayor Bob Schwab says the economic impact of the business' closure will likely affect their revenue. But he doesn't anticipate any cuts in village services after Bennett's shuts down.
