Bridges to face charges after Sunday night shooting

We have an update on a Sunday shooting where Lima Police responded to the 500 block of Hope Street after several shots were heard in the area.

The police found several people in front of 1232 Hughes Avenue with many shell casings around the home, yard, and street. Police received a second call from a nearby apartment after several bullets entered through the walls and struck a 58-year-old man in the hand who wasn't involved in the gunfight. Initially two 20-year-old individuals were brought in for questioning and held under suspicion of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure.

"We've now narrowed it down to where Marvin Bridges is going to be the only one charged in the event. As of right now I'm going to file a charge of discharging a firearm into a habitation which is a felony of the second degree, but he's going to be looking at several other charges which I'll submit to the grand jury such as felonious assault and firing across a roadway. We're looking at any federal charges for the gun itself," commented Detective Stechschulte.

After questioning, Detective Stechschulte says the motive was believed to be gang-related.

The victim of the shooting was taken to a hospital in Columbus because of the seriousness of his wound, he is now in stable condition.
