The U.S. Government has approved the sale of 250 Abrams M1A2 tanks to the Polish government. Now an Ohio Senator wants to see them delivered as soon as possible. The Polish government asked to purchase the Lima-made tanks around seven months ago.
Last month, Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman, along with a dozen of their colleagues ask the Department of Defense and State Department to speed up the request. Now that the sale is complete, Brown has sent a letter to the President asking that the delivery to the NATO ally be made as quick as possible because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Abrams purchase was worth approximately $6 billion.
Brown also says that Poland has expressed interest in buying other military items from the United States and he would like to see that request be granted because of the threat by the Russian Federation.
