The Cancer Association of Mercer County hosted their annual "Hopefest" fundraiser in St. Henry Friday night to help raise funds to support people who are fighting or have previously fought cancer. The evening was filled with inspiration as survivors and their families walked around the St. Henry High School Football Field for a survivor celebration followed by a Wall of Hope ceremony with other games and activities. Since 1997, the Cancer Association of Mercer County has provided $2.2 million of assistance, and leaders say it is all about bringing hope to those fighting a difficult battle.

"It's all about the hope, and you'll see that in the stands, on the bleachers. We have that hope in the stands; we have hope on the track, everybody coming together supporting each other. And so basically, it's kind of our motto: when there's help, there's hope," says Valerie Heitkamp, Executive Director, Cancer Association of Mercer County.

The Cancer Association of Mercer County has additional events planned. If you would like more information about those events as well as ways to participate, visit their website.
