LIMA — Shawnee clinched the Western Buckeye League championship with a straight-set sweep of Ottawa-Glandorf at Lappin Gymnasium, posting a 25-16, 25-23, 25-19 victory Tuesday night.

Both teams entered the match unbeaten in league play at 8-0, with Shawnee ranked No. 19 in Division III and Ottawa-Glandorf No. 6 in Division V. The Indians set the tone early as Gianna Upshaw hammered a left-side kill to open the scoring, and Karleigh Hutchins repeatedly punished the Titans with powerful finishes to help Shawnee build a first-set lead.

Ottawa-Glandorf pushed back in the second set behind Grace Kahle and Madison McKee, cutting the margin late, but Josie Hutchins delivered a clutch cross-court winner as Shawnee closed out the set 25-23. The Indians finished the job in the third set, with Upshaw adding the exclamation-point kill to seal the sweep.

Shawnee’s balanced attack and timely blocking at the net proved decisive, earning the Indians the WBL crown while handing O-G a hard-fought loss.
