Care Access is looking for people to take part in a study that could help reduce the risk of heart attacks in the future.
They are looking for some volunteers, 18 to 85 years old, to help in a study for a commonly overlooked cholesterol, high Lipoprotein(a). Unlike other risk factors for heart attacks like high blood pressure and smoking, there is currently no treatment or medication for high Lipoprotein(a). Care Access is working on multiple research studies to understand the link between that particular cholesterol and heart disease and test particular treatments for high Lipoprotein(a). But to get started, they need people to take the first step and volunteer.
“It is just like going into a doctor's visit. They come in and do a simple blood test and after that, they will get the results and see if they can go into further studies with studying Lipoprotein(a),” says Adah Ellerbrock, patient access liaison at Care Access.
