ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Real heroes may not wear capes, but they can do their part to help local children leave bad situations and get into loving homes. The Allen County Court Appointed Special Advocates Program or CASA held their 2nd annual Superhero 5K. This is the organization's largest fundraiser of the year and many runners and walkers turned out in their best superhero costumes to run the course around Faurot Park. While the superheroes were running in the streets, the real heroes to CASA are the advocate that work closely with the children to help make sure leave a situation where they have been abused and neglected.
“It is up to them to help get to know a little bit about that child’s life and make a recommendation to the court what they might feel be a safe, stable, and permanent home for that child,” says Becca Peckinpaugh, CASA Program Manager.
