WAPAKONETA (WLIO) - Children's Hometown Holiday in Wapakoneta held a "Christmas in July" holiday fundraiser.
People from around the area came together to help raise money through a raffle and gift auction.
For nearly two decades, the Wapakoneta community and its local businesses have helped the organization in its efforts to ensure that every child has one magical holiday weekend where they are celebrated with the hope of creating lasting memories of Christmas in their hometown.
On Wednesday evening, people from around the area came together to help raise money through a raffle and gift auction, with all proceeds going towards their mission of providing kids with a cost-free Christmas.
This Saturday, July 28th, Children's Hometown Holiday will continue to raise funds with a "New Outlook Concert" from 3-5pm.
"Children know when they go downtown that they are going to be able to go anywhere and get something, and it will be fun. There are people that fall on hard times, and bad things happen. If their children can have a Christmas downtown with Santa, the Grinch, and all of us, that's the same as every other child, so that's very important to me," explained Elaine Poppe, Chairman of the Children's Hometown Holiday.
This Saturday, July 28th, Children's Hometown Holiday will continue to raise funds with a "New Outlook Concert" from 3-5pm, with half the ticket sales going towards their cause.
