Throughout the day, demolition crews were focused on tearing down properties from 33 through 44 Superior Court on Lima's north side through the mayor's one-point-five million dollar "Better Together Plan" at Monday's site of demolition. Lima Director of Public Works Kirk Niemeyer told Your Hometown Stations that the city has many more demolitions planned to help sustain vibrancy and potentially bring new projects to Lima.

"Right now, we have upwards of 187 properties. We produce or update our demolition list... It used to be quarterly; we're doing that more frequently now. The Department of Housing and Neighborhoods and the CIC (Community Improvement Corporation) are always looking at opportunities. You know, if there is an adjacent property owner next to one of these houses that come down, they have an opportunity to acquire the property to expand their property. The CIC is looking at, you know, maybe one of these properties that are on the demolition has the possibility to be rehabbed," explained Kirk Niemeyer, director of City of Lima Public Works.

New to the project, the city has created and placed blue and white signs that state "Notice of Intent to Demolish" to help residents know what properties the city plans to demolish.
