LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The City of Lima is looking for contractors to assist with its home repair program.
City officials are looking to recruit general contractors to take on small repair projects to help low- to moderate-income homeowners with issues that could impact safety inside their homes. Officials say the federally-funded program has been delayed in recent years due to a shortage of available contractors, leaving some residents waiting for assistance. Contractors who participate are paid for their work, and projects are assigned after a city inspector determines the scope of repairs needed.
“That might be a step going in and out of the house, a door, a window, again, just things that need to be done to continue to make sure that they can continue to live in their homes and that they're safe for them,” said Carmillia Zion, director of housing and neighborhoods for the City of Lima.
Contractors interested in participating can contact the city’s Housing and Neighborhoods Department at 419-221-5146.
