COLUMBUS GROVE (WLIO) — Elida won the battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday night, defeating Defiance 47-30 in a Western Buckeye League district semifinal.

Shae Rager opened the scoring with a three and finished with 12 points, while Emma Mitchell added an interior bucket to stretch the early lead. Claire Dingledine paced Elida with 14, knocking down a key triple late in the first half.

Defiance stayed within reach behind Alexandra Fernandez and Jamie Rollins, but Elida’s defense took over down the stretch to secure the spot in the district final.

Elida will face Norwalk on Saturday at 7 p.m.
