Allen County Commissioners and Lima Building Department officials tweaking the proposed contract. Modification to some language seems to be the fix to allow the contract to move forward, providing services for the new "Allen County Building Department". Issues with the use of video and photos for minor last minute inspections and the number of certified staff on duty were of concern. Both say they are working together to make Lima Allen County a place where businesses want to build.

"We've come up with some great leading edge type of services that we'll be providing to our customers and we look forward all the joint efforts that we have in providing a higher level of service to the customers," said Amy Harpster, chief building official.

"Some give and take as we go forward with this contract but the end result needs to be a business friendly, public safety, timely, building department," explained Jay Begg, Allen County commissioner.

Once the new "Allen County Building Department" is recognized by the state, commissioners hope to attract additional municipalities making it a more regional building department.
