Crash on State Route 364 in Auglaize County takes the life of a Tipp City woman

According to troopers, the crash happened just after noon at the intersection of State Route 364 and Southland Road in Saint Marys Township.

AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Tipp City woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Auglaize County Wednesday afternoon.

According to troopers from the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after noon at the intersection of State Route 364 and Southland Road in Saint Marys Township. 75-year-old Theresa Bachelor was on Southland Road, and troopers believe she failed to at a stop sign at State Route 364 and drove into the path of a 41-year-old man from Sidney. Both were injured and taken to the hospital, where Bachelor was pronounced deceased. The crash remains under investigation.


July 24, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: Saint Marys Township - The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on July 24, 2024, at approximately 12:02 p.m. in Auglaize County, Ohio. The crash occurred on State Route 364 at Southland Road in Saint Marys Township.

Ms. Theresa L. Bachelor, age 75, of Tipp City, Ohio, was operating a 2020 Ford Escape while traveling westbound on Southland Road. Mr. Ayodeji A. Opadeyi, age 41, of Sidney, Ohio, was operating a 2019 Toyota Avalon while traveling northbound on State Route 364.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Ford failed to yield from the stop sign posted on Southland Road and was struck by the Toyota. The Ford and Toyota then slid off of the west side of State Route 364. The Ford struck a fence and tree. The Toyota struck a fence and a house.

Ms. Bachelor and Mr. Opadeyi both sustained injuries from the crash and were transported to Joint Township Memorial Hospital. Ms. Bachelor was later pronounced deceased at Joint Township Memorial Hospital from the injuries she sustained.

Ms. Bachelor and Mr. Opadeyi were both wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit, Ohio Department of Transportation, Saint Marys Township Fire Department, City of Saint Marys EMS, and Auglaize County CERT also responded to the crash.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
